Plain and simple. What's your favorite language and why?

For me, I default to python when making anything on Linux, but I'll use Visual Basic for creating Windows applications.
Python has never failed me in being dynamic enough to do whatever I need to; and Visual Basic has been a quick and simple way to create an application for everyday use (simple things like file renaming for those downloaded TV shows to get organized...).

I don't do programming in Windows anymore.

But for my other needs I use PERL and shell scripting.

Python has always been and probably always will be my favorite. It's what I started on and it's what I understand best. Whitespace is the One True Brace Style.

I also have a soft spot for javascript. You can do some really interesting things with it.
