Yes it is a type B socket. The common and the hot wire are working correctly. My meter shows that the ground wire is broken so it should not be doing anything. That is what is confusing me. I am much more use to using DC wiring then AC wiring.
I have wired a lot of boats but that is mostly DC. Some of the larger boats had generators for running large AC spotlights to find buoys in the night.

Ok got all that and that makes me think that either the hot or common wire is broken and when the power cord is bent the internal wire is pulling apart where the brake is or internal corrosion is happening.
Are you ready for a laugh mick? The new dog just came in went under the computer table and lay down on the some of the cords under there, the wife's Wi fi went down and this computer shut down. I need to clean up the wiring mess under the computer desk. thanks for helping me to understand all this.

has any one found a work around to get adblock working? If I don't find some thing soon I think I will give up the internet. firefox keeps telling me it is fixed but it is not on any of the five ISO's that I am using.
If I can get it to work on either devuan or zorin I could live with that if not recommend a distro that ad block will work on.

I have got adblock to work on zorin from what I am finding out it is going to be a challenge to get an update of firefox on devuan. might be easier to go back to debian and get an update of firefox for that ISO. Sorry if I am not clear had a cancer taken off my forehead this morning and now got a headache.

The problem as I see it is that devuan will not let you upgrade from firefox esr. the only work around that I have found calls for you to change your sources list, add a key ring, then find a deb pkg to allow a newer version of firefox. my trouble with that is the fonts in the root terminal are so small I can see them even with my magnifying glass. maybe after the eye surgery I will be able to see things that small. Thinking now of putting debian on the main computer and going with that till after the surgery.
@GB ublock will not download to firefox esr. but thanks for the info

Thanks ranchhand for pointing me in the right direction, this is the command I came up with that worked for me in devuan
[ $ nano /etc/hosts ip6-localhost
ip6-loopback
ffo2::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters]

The good lady ask me a question I can't answer. Can you pick up a virus on a thumb drive ISO, when you are using it on a strange computer ie at a library or a place that has rent able computers.

Thanks Mick that is about what my thinking was. I should run Clam av more often then I do put I have never found any malware on any of my computers as of yet. The good lady spends hours looking on the internet. Buys a lot of stuff as well.

I don't believe either of us do that. The only stuff we get is from our friend Virginia She sends weird conspicuous crap every week or two, she is 97 years old so we don't pay any attention to what she sends us from those funny sites.

I am an ignorant old countryboy (80years old) I have been using linux for 15 years found it different but easier to use then windows. Took me less then a week to be proficient enough for it become my favorite operating system.
